Georgean Warby Obituary (1926

Georgean Olcott Warby returned home to her Heavenly Father on July 8, 2014. Georgean was born June 5, 1926 in Clear Creek Canyon, Utah, to George Howard and Amy Sarah Green Olcott. She was the seventh of eight children. Georgean's mother passed away when Georgean was just 5 years old, leaving her father to raise the eight children. Her older sister, Alyce, became her surrogate mother. Georgean loved growing up in Clear Creek Canyon, playing in the creek and exploring the beautiful rock formations of the canyon. She and her sisters would spend many hours playing with their friends in the canyon. She was also expected to help with the chores on the farm and in the house. Alyce was a fastidious housekeeper and taught Georgean well. While in high school Georgean joined the debate team and became an accomplished public speaker. She also served as the artist for the school newspaper. She had a beautiful singing voice and was asked to participate in many programs. She also sang in many funerals. When Georgean was just 8 years old she was visiting her cousins in North Creek when they decided to invite their friends to a birthday party for her. It was there that she met her future husband, William Edward (Bill) Warby Jr. Through the years they attended several parties in North Creek and eventually began to date. They were married in the Manti LDS Temple on December 14, 1945. Georgean was a multi-talented woman. She cultivated her love of music and taught herself to play the piano. After her children were grown she began writing songs and wrote several fun songs for her grandchildren as well as inspirational songs expressing her testimony of Jesus Christ. She also loved to write and has written several stories, poems and her personal history that her family cherishes. She was also an artist and drew many illustrations for her books, church lessons and learned to oil paint. Each of her six children have one of her paintings hanging in their home. Georgean was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. She served in many callings, including Jr. Sunday School Coordinator, Relief Society Teacher, Relief Society President and Ward Chorister - a calling she held for many years. With her husband Georgean served missions in Nauvoo and Cove Fort as well as a temple ordinance worker in the St. George LDS Temple for many years. Georgean was a hard worker and worked at several different jobs. During the war she earned her teaching degree in just one year at Brigham Young University, then taught 3rd grade for one year in Richfield. After she married Bill she worked as custodian for the LDS church, as a seamstress for the sewing factory, bookkeeper for the Brooklawn Creamery to name a few. Georgean is survived by five of her children, Nanette of Fallon, Nevada, Stephen Rand of North Creek, Utah, Wayne O (Sandra) of Bloomington, Utah, Janiene (Kim) Christopherson of Beaver, Utah, and Calvin of Toquerville, Utah and a sister, Ruby Mason of Farmington, New Mexico, 31 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren with 3 on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband, a son Brent R, her parents, and siblings, Howard, Rulon, Alyce, Aubrum, Viola, and Arleen. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12th at 11:00 a.m. in the Beaver 4th Ward LDS Church. A viewing will precede the services from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Beaver, Utah, under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary The family would like to thank the staff at the Beaver Long Term Care facility for their loving service to our mother and grandmother and for the many friends who faithfully visited her. We would also like to thank the Beaver 4th Ward for their compassionate service to the family at this time.
