Irad DeMille Obituary (1928 - 2016)

Irad Robert DeMille passed away peacefully in his home Monday, May 2, 2016 surrounded by his family. Robert was born February 26, 1929 to Oscar Irad DeMille and Mildred Jolley. Robert married his sweetheart Alene Matheson in the St. George Temple on February 25, 1948 and they had four children: Alan, Jerald, Teresa, and Curtis. Robert was a generous man who loved serving others. He could often be found in his workshop, out in his garden or taking his grandkids on rides in his golf cart. Robert loved spending time with his family and made an extra effort to ensure they had a place to meet every year for their huge family reunions. His big smile, booming voice and generous spirit will be missed. He is survived by his children, Annie DeMille, Jerald & Denise DeMille, Teresa & Donald Petty, Curtis & Lucky DeMille, his 31 grandchildren, 94 great grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his eternal companion, Alene and his oldest son Alan DeMille. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Cedar North Stake Center, 95 N 2125 W, Cedar City. A viewing will be held at Southern Utah Mortuary on Friday evening, May 6th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A viewing will be held Saturday morning, May 7th at the Cedar North Stake Center from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
