Lorin Jones Obituary (1935

Lorin C. Jones, 76, Enoch, Utah passed away, following complications of a stroke on Sunday, February 19, 2012. He was surrounded by his family who knew him as a very kind, loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Lorin lived his entire life in Enoch, Utah. Growing up on the family farm, he learned the values of hard work, love, fairness, and self sufficiency. He served in the LDS California Mission, which included Southern California and Arizona. He enjoyed sharing his mission experiences with those around him and devoted his life to the missionary program. While attending Southern Utah State College (Now SUU), he met his eternal companion, Shirley McIntyre; they were married in the St. George LDS Temple. While attending college Lorin worked in the construction and insurance industry. Lorin followed his passion for the livestock and farming industry and became involved as a successful Sheep rancher and farmer. He had a great talent for grading wool, and a gift for locating underground water sources throughout the tri-state area. Lorin was very active in the LDS church and held many callings. One of his highlights was serving with his eternal companion as service missionaries, helping to change peoples lives. Lorin loved being a grandfather and was dearly loved by all of his grandchildren. His desire for being in the service of others was a driving force in his life and he passed that value on to his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivor Davenport Jones and Rua Chamberlain, his daughter Jan Raye Jones, and sister Aurella Jones Mathews. He is survived by his wife, Shirley McIntyre Jones of Enoch; His children Raleen Connell (Michael) of Houston, Texas; Lori Edwards (Paul) of Draper, Utah; Tammy Banks (John) of Cedar City, Utah; Lynette Stone (Dave)of Enoch, Utah and Spencer Jones (Andrea) of Enoch, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 11:00 am at the new Enoch Utah Stake Center located at 2233 just off Highway 91 at the corner of Heather Hue Road (approx. 5100 North) and Village Green Road (approx. 2200 East). Viewings will be held Friday, February 24, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Southern Utah Mortuary, 190 N 300 W in Cedar City, Utah and 9:30 to 10:30 am on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Enoch Stake Center prior to services. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
