Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Mary MacFarlane Matheson, age 91, passed away on May 17, 2010. She was born on December 14, 1918, in Parowan, Utah to Daniel Ford & Pearl Melinda Jensen MacFarlane. Mary lived her early childhood in Parowan, before her family moved to Delta, Utah. Her family later returned to Parowan, where she finished High School. Mary married Floyd Matheson on September 9, 1940, in Parowan, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple in May of 1976.Mary was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She always had a love of music, and a highlight of her life was singing with the Cedar First Ward Singing Mothers at General Conference. She was an excellent cook and she was known for her delicious pies. She worked for Lins Bakery where she made many wonderful friends. . Mary enjoyed working as a Pink Lady at the Hospital. But most of all, she loved to be surrounded by family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.Mary is survived by her children Danny F. (Claudette) Matheson of Cedar City, Mary Kay (L.J.) Benson of St. George, and Mac (Bonnie) Matheson of Cedar City. Along with 16 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Floyd Matheson, her son Don A., Matheson and daughter-in-law Jackie Matheson. Two brothers, Jay and Monte MacFarlane, and one sister Mala Rollins. And one grandson, Wade Smith Matheson.Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Rock Church located on 75 East Center in Cedar City, UT. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Southern Utah Mortuary located at 190 North 300 West in Cedar City, UT., and then again at the Mortuary on Friday, May 21, 2010 from 9:30-10:30 am. Internment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
